President Donald Trump announced Saturday evening that US military forces had dropped bombs on three Iranian nuclear facilities, ending a weeklong deliberation period over joining Israel’s campaign against Tehran and thrusting the United States squarely into an escalating Middle East conflict.

Injecting the US directly into the conflict between Iran and Israel, Trump declared three secret nuclear facilities had been “completely and totally obliterated” in Sunday morning attacks and threatened to strike again if Tehran did not relent.

President Donald Trump said the strikes, which he described as “very successful,” had hit the Natanz, Fordo and Isfahan sites, with Fordo being the primary target. Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency confirmed there were attacks early Sunday at all three nuclear sites.
