A 15-year-old boy has been found guilty of the attempted murder of a girl with a sword during a Halloween camping trip. He was among a group of seven who went out to camp in a field off the A63. The girl, who is now 14, suffered ten forceful stab wounds and was described by a witness as fortunate to survive.

The 15-year-old boy said in his defence he thought he would impress the girl he "fancied" if he did what she asked him and "hurt" the victim. At Hull Crown Court, Judge John Thackray KC summed up the defence case in which the accused claimed he was passed the sword and urged by a girl to "go hurt her."
