Leading auto parts company Denso Corp. identified a major cause behind defective fuel pumps that led to the recall of more than 4 million vehicles in Japan.

A minivan equipped with a fuel pump manufactured by Denso Corp. stalled on an expressway and was rear-ended in July, resulting in the first fatality connected with the problem part, sources said.

Denso is one of the biggest automotive parts suppliers on the planet. It stands to reason that a recall based on one of its parts would be big, too.
