It’s still hot outside, but the days have been getting incrementally shorter as summer tiptoes out the door. And before you know it, it’ll be time to get rid of Daylight Saving Time and “fall back” — that bittersweet day where you supposedly get an extra hour of sleep but lose 60 minutes of evening sunshine for the next four months.

The practice was first implemented as the Standard Time Act in 1918 during World War I. This year, daylight saving time began on March 10, shifting the clocks forward by one hour.

Daylight saving will start at 2am on October 6. Each year, daylight saving time kicks in at 2am on the first Sunday of October. Clocks will move forward by one hour. The time on smart devices usually automatically adjusts to the relevant time zone, so you probably won't have to change any time settings on your phone.
