The European Union and the U.S. are moving toward a trade deal that could include a 15% U.S. baseline tariff on EU goods and possible exemptions, two European diplomats said on Wednesday, potentially moving President Donald Trump closer to another major trade agreement on the heels of the one he just unveiled with Japan.

Japan will invest $550 billion in the U.S. and allow the U.S. to tax Japanese goods sold in America at 15 percent.

The U.S. and Japan have reached a trade agreement that will lower tariff rates on the longtime U.S. ally down to 15%, President Donald Trump said Tuesday. The 25% tariff rate slated to hit Japan by August will be lowered to 15%, according to Trump, who said Japan will invest $550 billion into the U.S. under the deal.
