Toronto Maple Leafs forward Steven Lorentz was forced out of their game on Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings with an upper-body injury and has been ruled out of the game, the team announced.
If Lorentz is sidelined, the development could finally open the door for rookie Easton Cowan to make his NHL debut. Cowan, 20, had been projected to play alongside Lorentz and Scott Laughton during the preseason before being edged out by Jarnkrok and Sammy Blais in the season-opening roster.
