Seattle has seen one of the driest Januarys on record. We're forecasting the return of precipitation to the Seattle area, and there could be a rain-snow mix through all of next week. The weather models are frequently changing,

It's not a sure thing yet, but the National Weather Service says the forecast grows "increasingly interesting" starting on Friday.

Cliff Mass, atmospheric sciences professor at the University of Washington, told “Seattle’s Morning News” on KIRO Newsradio Monday there is a chance of snow in the region. However, only some areas of Western Washington, such as Skagit and Whatcom Counties, will see it.

Once we are three to five days out from the weather event, KING 5 meteorologists will likely be able to pinpoint predominant types of precipitation expected. However, there is higher confidence in pinpointing finer details, such as specific locations, amount of precipitation and the exact timing around one to three days out.

We will enjoy the sunny, blue skies for another couple days before we see a change in our weather pattern. A return to cool and wet conditions will start Thursday night.
