While Sensex and Nifty closed below record highs amid volatility, analysts remain cautiously optimistic, noting that Indian equities have defied global uncertainty to post strong gains this year.

Share market today: The two key equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty, on Tuesday climbed to their fresh all-time highs amid volatility, tracking by the record overnight close on Wall Street. At 10.35 am, the BSE Sensex gained 83 points to a new high of 85,011. On the other hand, the NSE Nifty50 was trading at 25,972, rising 34 points.

Indian stock market made historic highs on Tuesday led by a rally in metal stocks. While Sensex crossed the 85,000 mark for the first time, Nifty breached the 26,000 level on an intra day basis. Later,

India's NSE Nifty 50 and S&P BSE Sensex are trailing only Wall Street's Nasdaq and S&P 500 as top-performing indexes this year, with analysts expecting the rally to extend into 2025.

The stock market on Tuesday opened on a flat note but immediately Sensex crossed the 85,000 mark at 85,001.42 and NSE touched all-time high of 25,975 points mainly on account of global optimism. Market expert Ajay Bagga says,

The Sensex has reached 85,000 points for the first time, extending the Indian share market's record run, which has been boosted by steelmakers and automakers. As equity markets reach all-time highs, the Nifty is also approaching 26,

Biggest Nifty gainers were Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries, Power Grid Corp, Tech Mahindra and Adani Enterprises, while losers included SBI Life Insurance, HUL, Grasim Industries, UltraTech Cement and Shriram Finance.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 25,990 level, a premium of nearly 75 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.
