Defending champion Nick Dunlap, who won the 2024 American Express as a PGA Tour rookie, will try to become the first back-to-back winner of the event since Johnny Miller in 1975-76.

There were several PGA Tour stars who missed the cut Saturday afternoon including Wyndham Clark, Tony Finau and Tom Kim. Sunday's champion will win $1.584 million of the $8.8 mill

The 35-year-old Tour veteran would join a long list of players who won their first event here in the California desert.

There's plenty of star power near the top of the leaderboard at the American Express through 54 holes — Jason Day (19 under), Patrick Cantlay (18 under), Justin Thomas (17 under), just to name a few — but there are also nearly a dozen notable names who are packing their bags early after missing the cut on Saturday afternoon.
