We’ve definitely reached a point in human history where Christmas and pop culture are inextricably intertwined, and one of the biggest reasons is that families enjoy sitting together and watching movies both leading up to and during the holidays.

The top streaming services are filling their stockings with Christmas-themed fare from animated family stories to edgier adult narratives.

The new film that has surpassed Hot Frosty is called The Merry Gentlemen, which stars Britt Robertson and Chad Michael Murray. It is a bit more scandalous than Hot Frosty given its subject matter. The official synopsis: “To save her parents' small-town performing venue, a former big-city dancer decides to stage an all-male, Christmas-themed revue.”

N etflix, in the process of eating Hallmark’s lunch as a nice little dessert after it’s already had everyone else’s, has a couple of new original Christmas movies at the top
