The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) gathered letters of support from over 160 candidates, including independents, for forming the government. The counting for the 288-member assembly elections began on Saturday.

Most exit polls have given an edge to the ruling Mahayuti alliance, while some of them have predicted a comfortable win for it. The MVA, however, hopes to prove the exit poll projections wrong, just like it did in Haryana.

Both Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the Mahayuti alliance parties have claimed that an increase in voter turnout in the state will work in their favor in the elections. Exit polls from various channels suggest that the Mabhayuti alliance (BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP) is likely to secure the majority of seats and may form the government in Maharashtra.

As election results on 288 seats to be declared on November 23, who will the CM, remains a big question. With many parties are part of the two grand coalition, pin pointing who will take the CM oath is tough.

With two days to go before Maharashtra votes, the ruling coalition Mahayuti and its challenger Maha Vikas Aghadi have put out newspaper ads targeting each other.
