The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to pass the “sanctuary city” ordinance, shielding queer youth who travel to the city to receive gender-affirming care from prosecution.

The City of Los Angeles declared itself a sanctuary city in advance of the second Trump presidency, which would bar city cooperation with immigration enforcement and providing of immigrant data to the federal government.
