Notorious killer and rapist Paul Bernardo has been denied parole for a third time after the families of his victims made an emotional plea to the Parole Board of Canada on Tuesday to keep him behind bars.

The Parole Board of Canada is being asked again to consider whether Paul Bernardo — the serial rapist and murderer behind some of the most shocking and grisly killings in modern Canadian history — should be released.

One of Canada's most notorious serial killers is set to appear before a parole board today to learn his fate.  Paul Bernardo was convicted of sexual assault, kidnapping and murder in the early 1990s.

Victim impact statements delivered so far include those from Kristen French's mother Donna French, who spoke of the "senseless and brutal" loss her family endured.

Bernardo’s hearing is set to take place at the medium-security La Macaza Institution in Quebec, after his transfer there from a maximum-security Ontario prison caused public outcry last year
