The Tamil film featuring Suriya, Bobby Deol was mounted on a budget of ₹350 cr but has turned out to be a box office disaster.

Suriyas hyped action drama written and directed by Siruthai Siva has rich work in terms of technicalities and craft but the movie fell flat at the box office due to its sloppy narration and an age-old story.

Suriya's ambitious film 'Kanguva', directed by Siva, is struggling at the box office despite a strong opening. Released on November 14, 2024, the movie has earned Rs 64.92 crore in eight days, far below its Rs 350 crore budget.

Kanguva, produced by Studio Green, is touted for its grand visuals and epic battle scenes set over 1,500 years of history. Shot across various locations in India and abroad, the film was made with an estimated budget of over ₹350cr. This makes it one of the most expensive Tamil films in recent times.

Suriya was recently seen in a leading role in the movie Kanguva, which has been receiving mixed-to-negative responses from audiences and critics. Now, it seems the actor’s much-awaited mythological epic Karna has been let go by the makers.

In a bid to salvage the situation, reports suggest Suriya is considering a pay cut or even returning a portion of his fee. There’s also talk of him committing to a lower-budget project for Studio Green to help offset the deficit.
