CM Hemant Soren-led party emerged as the single largest in Jharkhand that secured 34 assembly seats. JMM chief is set for term 2 as the party steered the INDIA bloc to victory.

BJP fought the Jharkhand election in its trade-mark aggressive style by raising issues such as 'corruption' and 'Bangladeshi infiltration', but it seems they did not go well among voters, prompting the INDIA bloc to retain power in the state.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sita Soren on Saturday lost the Jharkhand Assembly election from Jamtara to the Congress’ Irfan Ansari by a margin of 43,676 votes, according to Election Commission data. Sita Soren secured 89,590 of the votes counted.

Jharkhand held assembly elections in two phases, on November 13 and 20, for all 81 seats. Both the JMM-led alliance and the BJP-led NDA are optimistic about forming the government. Exit polls have predicted a possible edge for the BJP.

Incumbent CM Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren is surprisingly trailing from Gandey seat behind BJP candidate Muniya Devi as counting progresses of the Jharkhand Assembly polls on Saturday (November 23).
