Former BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff finds himself in a four-way quarterback competition at his new school, Tulane. If he wins that starting job, he could be a factor in the Group of Five race for a College Football Playoff spot.

The move is meant to keep Retzlaff on the field despite his stumbles at BYU. But it also represents a dramatic shift in the Jewish character of his schools for Retzlaff, who grew up attending a Reform synagogue in Pomona, California.

"The Cougars still return their leading rusher, LJ Martin, and wide receiver Chase Roberts, who had over 850 yards and four touchdowns last year. BYU's defense was also one of the best in the country last year at snagging turnovers," the analyst noted. "The returning talent will help ease the transition of whoever replaces Retzlaff as the starter."
