A college football season never goes to plan. There are always unexpected results. A look at the surprises at the biggest halfway mark of the year.

The Buckeyes continue to hold the top spot after a 34-16 win at Illinois and a strong first half showing. Ohio State lead 20-3 at the break and Jeremiah Smith found the end zone during the fourth quarter to go up 34-10 as the nail in the coffin.

The No. 7 Indiana Hoosiers, led by quarterback Fernando Mendoza, face the No. 3 Oregon Ducks, led by quarterback Dante Moore, on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025 at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore.

Further down in the rankings we are expecting a drop for Oklahoma outside the top 10 and a bump back into the rankings for Arch Manning and Texas after taking down the Sooners in Dallas. That, plus plenty of shake up near the end of the ballots, will highlight the key shake ups for Sunday's new rankings release.
