New Jersey Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver appeared virtually before a federal judge in Newark this morning after being charged with assault, resisting arrest, and impeding federal officers.

House Democrats have run to defend Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) after the Justice Department charged her with assaulting federal law enforcement while protesting President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

The Justice Department has filed charges against Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-NJ, alleging that she assaulted law enforcement officers during a protest outside an immigration detention facility in New Jersey earlier this month.
