Greenville Police Department officer Cooper Dawson was shot in the line of duty Nov. 25. A funeral service was held for him Dec. 3.

The Greenville Police Department said Dawson was ambushed and shot multiple times as he chased after a man in a residential neighborhood on Monday. Dawson fired back, injuring the man, and later died of his injuries. Dawson is survived by his wife Aubrey and their three children, two sons, ages 11 and 1, and a 3-year-old girl.

Family and police are preparing a final farewell for fallen officer Cooper Dawson who was shot during a foot chase.

ROCKWALL – Fallen Greenville Police Officer Cooper Dawson will be laid to rest Tuesday morning. Dawson, 27, was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 25. Police said he was conducting a traffic stop that evening that led to a foot pursuit.
