Organizations including Walmart, Lowe’s and Meta, have announced they would scale back their commitments to diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

The FBI’s DEI initiative has long been criticized by Republicans over concerns it has caused one of the country’s most powerful intelligence agencies to “abandon its core principle of attracting the most-qualified candidates and instead hire and advance employees based on gender/sexual orientation and race.”

The closure of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion follows the FBI facing accusations by Republican lawmakers of wrongfully prioritizing DEI.
