(CBS DETROIT) - Police are investigating after a child was shot Tuesday night on Detroit's east side. The shooting happened in the 500 block of Dickerson Avenue. A 12-year-old boy is recovering after he was shot in the arm Monday night while at a residence on St. Aubin Street, according to WXYZ-Detroit. Police were called to the home around 10 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

"When my mother asked the two girls, they told my mom that they would no longer be attending any family functions, including Christmas and Thanksgiving. This created a sh**show on an epic scale." A white Florida woman who fatally shot a Black neighbor through her front door during an ongoing dispute over the neighbor’s boisterous children was sentenced Monday to 25 years in prison for her manslaughter conviction.

It is unknown how the 16-year-old got ahold of the gun and if it was secured before the shooting. Police do not believe the shooting was intentional.
