With “Cowboy Carter,” Bey made history as the first Black woman to top the country music charts and have a number one song (“Texas Hold ‘Em”). The CMA has been accused of racism for decades — most recently when Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” was shut out from the country charts for allegedly not having enough country elements back in 2019.

Morgan Wallen tops the 2024 Country Music Association award nominations with seven. For a third year in a row, Wallen is up for both the top prize, entertainer of the year, and the male vocalist categories.

Beyonce did not receive a Country Music Association awards nomination when the nods for the 58th edition were announced Monday, even though her "Cowboy Carter" album proved a cultural phenomenon upon release this year.

In a new interview with Variety published Tuesday (Sept. 17), the 78-year-old country legend gushed about both superstars as well as weighed in on the CMA Awards snubbing Bey's Cowboy Carter this season.

Dolly Parton has entered the chat about Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” being shut out at the CMA Awards. Queen Bey’s country album, which features Parton herself as well as a cover of her hit “Jolene,” didn’t get any nominations for the upcoming 58th Annual CMA Awards.
