China space station crew returns to Earth after 6 months in space
BEIJING (AP) — Three Chinese astronauts returned to Earth on Monday after a six-month stay on the Tiangong space station, part of China’s effort to be a global leader in space exploration.

China's Shenzhou 18 crew have returned home after more than six months in space. Astronauts Ye Guangfu, Li Cong and Li Guangsu lived on board China's Tiangong space station since April 25 this year. They concluded their mission on Sunday (Nov. 3), touching down at the Dongfeng landing site in north China.

The formal handover of the station happened on Friday (Nov. 1), with Shenzhou 18 commander Ye Guangfu — who recently became China's first astronaut to spend 365 days in space in total — passing a symbolic key to Shenzhou 19 commander Cai Xuzhe. Both crews then shook hands.

Three Chinese astronauts successfully touched down on Earth after returning home from space. Ye Guangfu, Li Cong and Li Guangsu were on a six month mission aboard China’s Tiangong space station, according to Space.com.

The Shenzhou-19 spaceship carrying a trio of astronauts blasted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China atop a Long March-2F rocket. The team of two men and one woman will replace the astronauts who have lived on the Tiangong space station for the last six months.
