Border officials say the attack bolsters President Trump’s claims that the U.S.-Mexico border is more lawless than official statistics indicate.

A suspected cartel terrorist attacked and shot an American hiker multiple times near the San Diego-Mexico border, according to the US Customs and Border Protection. Border patrol said a group of hikers were bombarded with gunfire,

"The safety of our citizens is not negotiable, cartel terrorists have no place in our country preying on the innocent," said Bovino. "Enough is enough."
