As North Carolina coach Bill Belichick continues to build out his staff in Chapel Hill, he's keeping his promise of having a "strong NFL presence." According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Belichick and the Tar Heels are working towards finalizing a deal with longtime NFL special teams coach Mike Priefer.

Bill Belichick is adding another seasoned NFL coach to his staff at North Carolina. Mike Priefer will be the new special teams coordinator for the Tar Heels, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Priefer, 58, coached special teams for more than two decades across the NFL.

On Wednesday, Belichick made two more additions to the staff for next season. Belichick brought in former NFL special teams coach Mike Priefer as North Carolina's new special teams coach and then hired Will Friend as the new offensive line coach, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.

The situation is “making people nervous” at North Carolina, per Florio, including the athletic director and ACC president, concerned that Belichick could be biding time to see if an offer to return to the NFL shows up later in the game after there was little interest in the 72-year-old so far, according to Florio.

It's been one month and one day since North Carolina introduced Bill Belichick as the program's new head coach.

Bill Belichick is in the process of filling out his first staff at the University of North Carolina. Belichick has already hired his offensive and defensive coordinators, retaining Freddie Kitchens from Mack Brown's staff for the former role and bringing in his son Steve for the latter.
