Colorado is firmly in avalanche season and a skier near Beaver Creek triggered a big one on Wednesday, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.

The next two weekends, Beaver Creek will host both men's and women's Alpine skiing World Cup races for the first time since 2013. The Stifel Birds of Prey races air on NBC Sports and Peacock at Beaver Creek,

The post included images of the slope near Beaver Creek where the center said a skier caused an avalanche that triggered a second. A statewide map maintained by the agency ranks the risk of avalanches in many areas as “considerable,” the third-most severe category.
