Preparations are underway as an arctic blast dives into the nation's interior and southern regions and pushes a snowstorm into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast that will be followed by lethal cold.

After days of balmy weather City is slated to get hit with snow and then blasted by frigid cold by weekend’s end. Saturday morning started off cloudy and is set to turn soggy by the afternoon. Highs for the day are expected to peak around 45,

A potent shot of Arctic air starts settling in Monday as a massive dip in the jet stream pulls in frigid air across the entire eastern half of the country. Temperatures are set to drop as low as 20 degrees below average Tuesday and Wednesday with highs only reaching the teens, with lows in the single digits and even plunging below zero.

A cold front moved through North Texas overnight, bringing a chilly start to the day with wind chills in the upper 20s. While it will be a sunny Saturday, temperatures will only warm into the mid- to upper-40s.

Hopefully you’re ready for the arctic blast or will get ready Friday or Saturday. After a breezy day Friday with slightly above average temperatures and a few drizzles, cooler winds will kick in Saturday morning.

An arctic front will sweep across Texas, bringing freezing temperatures and snow chances, NOAA reports with impacts expected statewide by Sunday.
