Microsoft Edge is now an AI browser

Microsoft has introduced a new experimental feature in its Edge browser called Copilot Mode, which uses AI to help users browse the internet more efficiently. This feature is now available for free to anyone using Edge on a Mac or PC, as long as they already have access to Microsoft Copilot.
Microsoft has quietly started rolling out a new ‘Copilot-first’ experience for Microsoft Edge on Windows 11 (and Windows 10 for as long as it’s supported). Copilot mode is now turned on by default, and it replaces the traditional New Tab Page, which had links to most visited sites and MSN (if the feature was turned on).
While Microsoft AI is improving voice and video, Suleyman says he wants a “quieter, simpler, optimized working environment” and that he’s thinking about improving his “workshop” in the future. That might be a hint at potential changes to the Copilot app on Windows in the future, or even bigger changes with Microsoft’s Copilot Plus PCs.
The Appearance feature is an aspect of that idea. It gives Copilot facial expressions and subtle animations to respond in real time as you talk or type. So you might see a smile when it provides information, or a nod of encouragement when you provide follow-up details. Perhaps even a furrowed brow if you ask for something difficult.
