thanks for answering my question, but I was wondering if the first two rows might not offer quite as good a view of the stage as a bit further back? I've tickets for the 3rd and 4th rows...do they offer better sightlines than the first two rows or is there no difference. Thanks.

It really is a personal preference. Typically, people like to be a bit farther back to have a better view of the entire stage. But some fans like the immediacy of the first row. The Owen Theatre is small with a capacity of 367 seats and the main floor only has 243 seats. It is not setup like any of the large Broadway size theaters. I would recommend talking to the box office directly to help you pick seats. They can give you much more information and talk you through all the options in our theater. The Box Office is open daily 12noon to 5pm at 312.443.3800. Thank you.
I've got tickets to see Brendan Coyle in St. Nicholas at the Goodman Theatre in January. When I ordered them in a special offer before the tickets were open to the general public I noticed that none of the seats in the first two rows were available for purchase. I keep reading that there are no bad seats at the Goodman, but does anyone know why the first two rows of the production are not for sale?

Thanks for your question. The first two rows of our Owen Theatre were on a temporary hold for St. Nicholas until we received final design specifications for the set from the production team in England. Sometimes the way a set is designed means we have to either remove seats or adjust the layout. You have very good timing because our box office just released these seats for booking today. If you have already purchased tickets, you can call the Box Office and they are happy to exchange your seats at 312.443.3800. The Box Office is open daily 12noon to 5pm.

There are two theaters at the Goodman. The larger theater usually does the musicals. I saw War Paint and Wunderful Town recently at the Albert ?? We sat in the center in the upper balcony. About 5 rows down from the top. Less expensive and we were still able to see and hear very well.
