You can atv in after work, pitch a tent and hunt till dark. Wake up in the morning and crawl ouf your tent and be hunting. At least that's how I like to do it. Some guys like to set up a base camp and then hop on the quad at daylight a go for a ride. Ride back to camp in the afternoon and then ride out to hunt again until just before dark.
Knik Public Use Area Plan Pulled this over from the ATV forum. All you fellas running in the Jim Creek Swamps better read this thing and submit comments. check out Map 3-2 which shows some water body restrictions on Jim Lake and Jim Creek. I have no issues with a 5hp motor size restriction...
Trail Conditions Trail Conditions Was a good day of riding. The overflow was a little better than last week, all crossings were ok. Temps were fine. State Troopers were out there all day keeping an eye on things, one new burnt vehicle near Jim Creek/dunes.
FM, did you typo that? The north beach at Kasilof doesn't require any driving on the beach. The south beach requires you to drive up the beach quite some distance to get to the river. Same with the Kenai. North beach is road parking within a short walk of the water, while the south beach means you have to drive up the beach from the access point.

Anthropogenic impacts include urbanization that increases loss or alteration of wetlands and riparian habitats and decreases water quantity and quality; culverts that block or impair fish passage; ATV impacts to spawning habitats, stream channels, wetlands and riparian habitats; and introduction of invasive northern pike.
But I feel that if you truly need to subsistence hunt/fish to actually survive - then you wouldn't be able to afford a boat, snowmachine, atv, etc; -or you would have already sold off the ones you had to try and get by.
